Meet Your Host

My first job in hospitality was in 1999. Twenty-five years later, it's still what I love doing most.

Over the years I've worked in marketing, IT, and general management — learning the industry from nearly every angle. Since 2008 I've been on the software side, building tools for hotels and spending my workdays talking to hoteliers around the world. That work takes me on the road often: I fly regularly to our Dubai office to work alongside colleagues from the UAE, and I travel throughout the United States several times a year.

After so many years of crossing continents, one thing has become clear to me: what guests want varies wildly from culture to culture — but the feeling of being truly welcomed is universal.

I've been hosting guests myself since 2015. It started in Munich, in a small apartment, and quickly became the part of my life I looked forward to most. In 2021 we decided to move back to Garmisch entirely. We were expecting our daughter, and we wanted her to grow up in the Bavarian Alps — with mountains on the doorstep and countryside all around her. We welcomed our first guests at the Riverside Chalets on the same day she was born in 2022 — a date I'll never forget for more reasons than one. Today I host the two chalets, Alpspitze and Dreitorspitz, side by side on a quiet stream, a short walk from the center of town.

What I love most is the people. Some guests come once for a ski week and become friends I see every year. A few families from the UAE have stayed with us so often that I now meet them for dinner in Dubai when I'm there for work. Watching returning guests arrive for their third, fourth, fifth stay — that's the part of this that makes everything worthwhile.

Hospitality isn't a side project for me. It's been my life's work, and welcoming you into one of these chalets is how I get to practice it personally.
